Process water treatment

The Dequest range includes phosphonates, polymers and inulin derivatives, the latter being designed for an improved environmental and toxicological profile. Dequest products can be used as antiscalants, dispersants, corrosion inhibitors and chelants a various industrial processes such as bottle washing, pasteurizer & sterliser treatment, mineral processing and metal surface treatment.

A good bottle washing formulation has to remove all types of soils, keep them dispersed, sequester metals to prevent scale formation, aid in label removal and promote good rinsing. Dequest phosphonates, polymers and inulin derivatives have the following functions:

1. Dequest phosphonates provide metal ion control by sequestration in the washing stage. Prevention of clogged pipes and heat exchangers is achieved

2. Dequest phosphonates contribute to better washing because of dispersion and maintenance of soils in suspension

3. Dequest phosphonates inhibit spotting and hazy appearance of bottles by preventing soil and some chemical additives form depositions on bottles and the equipment

4. Dequest phosphonates, polymers and inulin derivatives prevent the scale build-up in the rinse sections of production washers. Their threshold scale inhibition is at work here.

Dequest phosphonates and polymers can be used for scale & corrosion control in different types of pasteurizers & sterilizers build of various construction materials.

Dequest phosphonates and polymers can be used for process water treatment in the mining industries.

Dequest phosphonates can be used in several metal cleaning applications. In formulation, they are valuable for their effectiveness in removing rust and other oxides from steel surfaces ; they are also very efficient in removing calcium carbonate / metal oxide mixtures from steel. An added benefit in Dequest-based oxide removal systems is the simultaneous metal passivation that occurs. Dequest phosphonates are well suited to cleaner applications because of their ability to work at a wide range of temperatures and pH level and because of their hydrolytic stability.

Dequest phosphonates should be considered for a variety of metal finishing applications. Potential functions of Dequest include:

1. Use as an agent for the protection of metal surfaces. Dequest can be used to provide corrosion protection for steel and aluminium in a variety of applications.

2. Addition to metal plating baths to complex trace metal impurities or to act as the primary electrolyte

3.Addition to aluminium etching baths to inhibit the formation of aluminium oxide / hydroxide precipitates and to keep formed precipitates suspended in solution.
